Best Christmas Eve Box Ideas For Kids In 2024

If you’re considering a Christmas Eve box for your child but aren’t sure what to add, you’re in the right spot!

As a mother of two, with my oldest at seven years old, I’ve created quite a few Christmas Eve boxes throughout the years, so I have numerous ideas to share.

It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the many ideas shared on social media, but remember, a Christmas Eve box doesn’t have to be extravagant! Keeping it simple is often the best approach, especially since they’ll be receiving a pile of exciting gifts the very next day!

Here are some Christmas Eve box ideas for children that I have collected over time, and I wholeheartedly recommend to others!

Christmas Eve box ideas for newborns up to 1 year old

If you’re looking to start a Christmas Eve box for your baby’s very first holiday season, figuring out what to put inside can be challenging—especially if you’ve already found it tough to select gifts for their inaugural Christmas!

I found that simplicity works best. Don’t overthink your selections, and you can always reuse items like Christmas books in the coming years!

Here’s what I recommend including in this Christmas Eve box:

A first Christmas ornament: This would be a lovely keepsake to hang on the tree, marking your baby’s first Christmas.

A Christmas book: A practical addition, plus it can be stored away with the decorations and used each Christmas—you might even consider a personalized Christmas story.

My first Christmas outfits: Whether it’s a baby grow designated for Christmas Day or a bib set for their first holiday meal, these are great extras to include. They won’t know if you’ve used them throughout December!

A Santa plate: While it may not be essential for very young ones, a Santa plate can be a fun way to encourage older babies to think about leaving treats for Father Christmas on Christmas Eve.

Christmas Eve box ideas for toddlers

When it comes to a toddler’s Christmas Eve box, it’s often beneficial to include items you’ve previously used, like Santa plates and books. Now that they’re a bit older and likely more enchanted by the magic of Christmas, you can start adding a few more items to their box!

Here’s what I would suggest for this Christmas Eve box:

Christmas crafts: I personally…not just about the presents! Including a family game in the Christmas Eve box enhances this time, bringing everyone together for a fun evening. It’s a perfect way to make cherished memories, laughing and competing as a family.

A festive book: A captivating holiday-themed book can set the right mood before bedtime, allowing your child to drift into sleep with thoughts of Santa and Christmas magic. Choose a story that can be enjoyed year after year.

Personalized ornaments: Adding a unique ornament that reflects their interests is a great touch. It can become a special keepsake that they will treasure as they grow older, reminding them of the joyful moments spent together during the holidays.

Cozy pajamas: Ending Christmas Eve in new, festive pajamas makes bedtime all the more special. Choose a fun design that heightens the excitement for Christmas morning, ensuring they are comfortable and snug as they drift off to sleep.

Overall, making a Christmas Eve box is not just about filling it with items, but creating a collection of experiences and memories. Whether it’s for toddlers or older kids, these thoughtful additions can enhance the holiday spirit and bring family members together in joyous anticipation of Christmas Day.

encourage. A game the whole family can enjoy on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day is always a fantastic idea, especially for older children, and provides a nice opportunity to bond (without feeling forced for those pre-teens!).

Holiday snacks: Including their favorite treat to enjoy while watching a film is always a hit!
