These Are The Best And Simple Outfit Combination For Fall
As someone who used to live in New England but now resides in Florida, the topic of fall is a sensitive one for me. It’s undeniably the best time of year, especially in the Northeast, with pumpkin spice lattes, colorful leaves, cool air, and cozy sweaters. Nothing else compares.
However, if you live in one of the southern states, fall may not be as exciting. In places where the temperature is still reaching 90 degrees in October, we try to create a fall-like atmosphere by burning pumpkin-scented candles while cranking the air conditioning. But let’s face it, our version of fall only lasts for about a week.
But don’t worry, there’s still hope. Dressing for the fall season in a hot and humid state may be challenging, but I’ve discovered the perfect outfit combination that allows me to embrace fall while still being practical. I’ve gathered some of my favorite sweater and dress pairings that will be my go-to outfits this season.
Cropped Turtleneck and Maxi Dress
Instead of storing away all my summer dresses for the season, I like to keep a few that can be easily layered for cooler weather. The Hill House Anjuli Nap Dress is a great example of a tank dress that can be worn with a cropped sweater like the Old Navy turtleneck.
Built-In Sweater Dress
If you prefer a grab-and-go option, there are great picks that come with a built-in sweater. For example, the Anthropologie Sweater Midi Dress features a slip midi dress that can be separated from the accompanying sweater. Another option is the Free People Eleanor Sweatshirt Dress, which combines a pleated mini skirt with a cozy sweatshirt. It’s a viral piece that looks amazing on everyone.
Balloon Sweater and Tank Dress
For dresses that can be worn year-round, Christy Dawn is one of my favorite brands. The Emma Dress, with its sweetheart neckline, perfectly embodies the cottage core style that I love. While I’ve been wearing it all summer, I plan on pairing it with the Jane Sweater this fall. The sweater’s balloon sleeves and cropped hem complement the full skirt of the dress.
Cardigan and Pleated Midi Dress
Instead of wearing a cardigan with jeans, try tucking it in to create a cropped sweater look with a midi dress. A cream cardigan, like the one from Gap, is a versatile piece that can be paired with the pleated midi dress from Target. It’s a simple yet chic outfit for fall.
Structured Cardigan and Midi Dress
Structured cardigans are currently trending, offering a more fitted option with your knitwear. The Tuckernuck cardigan, with its gold buttons and cable knit details, has a chic silhouette that complements the fall floral print of the Madewell midi dress. It’s a stylish combination that you’ll love.
Crew Neck Sweater and Tank Dress
For a classic sweater and dress combination, you can never go wrong with a crewneck sweater paired with a simple midi dress. Everlane is one of my favorite brands for investment pieces that can be worn year after year. Their Cotton Crew Sweater is a versatile staple that looks perfect with jeans or when worn over the Ribbed Tank Dress from Everlane.
